Walk-in Cooler Temperature Problems: What Operators Should Check
By Scott Camire, Owner | A/C Advantage Inc. • June 2026

When a walk-in cooler will not hold temperature, start tracking details immediately. What is the current temperature? How long has it been rising? Is product still safe? Are doors sealing? Is ice visible on the coil or lines?
Common Causes
Temperature problems can come from dirty condenser coils, failed fans, refrigerant issues, door gasket leaks, defrost failures, blocked airflow, controls, or loading patterns. The symptoms help the technician prioritize the diagnosis.
When to Call
If product is at risk, do not wait. Move sensitive inventory if possible, limit door openings, record the temperature, and call for service. A/C Advantage treats refrigeration problems as business-critical because downtime can become product loss fast.
